  i remember the jw view of martial arts being cemented in my head when i asked my mother at the age of 6 if i could take karate.

  the look of horror on her face.

  she told me it was violent and jws could not practice violence.

  Tai chi is an INTERNAL martial art. But it still is a martial art. That non-JW Chinese may have had an ulterior motive - students!

  The martial arts aren't necessarily about conquering others; really, your first and foremost goal is to conquer yourself.

  could jw's prove their beliefs without watchtower literature?

  i was pondering this question today.

  i thought it might be an interesting tactic to use with my family.

  if i simply asked that they prove all beliefs by the bible alone.. growing up - every time discipline or counsel was given - it was based on getting out the bound volumes.

  Looking at sin under the microscope

  the apostle paul said that death spread to all men because we all inherited adam's sin.. the human genome was mapped in 2000.. advances are being made in genetics.. britain recently allowed the creation of human-animal hybrids.. do you think eventually that scientists will find "sin"?.

  i've just finished reading the language of god, a book about a scientist who headed the human genome project.

  he was a former atheist but turned christian.

  One problem many ex-JWs have is that they don't stick to the facts. Facts first.
  
  Don't speak negatively of the Witnesses. Relate facts about them. Some of the facts are negative. *smile*

  The Do Not Call lists work a little. If a person is very violent (crazy isn't actually enough, oftentimes), then pioneers and others make a point of remembering. Which is the right attitude to have. Gear up.
